The aim of the recent refurbishment project was to preserve or reconstruct the building’s historical features, taking regulations on the protection of cultural heritage as well as modern building and safety standards into account. The original spatial sequence of rooms has been preserved and the individual rooms have been returned to their original colours. By moving into this distinctive and prestigious building, the Leopoldina has brought this impressive example of local building culture and history back to life.
