Wir haben heute über die molekularen Mechanismen des Lebens Detailkenntnisse, wie wir das vor 20 Jahren nicht einmal zu träumen wagten. Der alternative Schluss sieht das von einer mehr bescheidenen, fast demütigen Perspektive: Wir sind erst am Beginn eines langen Weges. Was wissen wir „mit dem Tanz der Proteine“ denn wirklich über das Leben? Wie weit sind wir noch davon entfernt, kognitive Prozesse oder gar Emotionen wie Freude, Leid, Trauer als einen solchen „Tanz der Proteine“ zu be- greifen? Gibt es ein Leben, das sich hinter der „Bühne, auf der die Proteine des Lebens tanzen“, verbirgt?
