Forschung

François Diederich ist ein Experte auf dem Gebiete der molekularen Erkennung in Chemie und Biologie.

Mit Hilfe eines mehrdimensionalen Ansatzes werden in seiner Forschergruppe schwache zwischenmolekulare Wechselwirkungen, wie Aromaten-Aromaten- und dipolare Wechselwirkungen quantifiziert. Das so gewonnene Wissen fließt in die strukturbasierte Wirkstoffentwicklung nichtpeptidischer Enzymhemmer ein, welche in seiner Gruppe vor allem auf den Gebieten von Tropenkrankheiten verfolgt wird.

Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt seiner Arbeiten stellen supramolekulare Nanosysteme wie schaltbare Rezeptoren und nano-strukturierte Oberflächen mit Wirteigenschaften dar. François Diederich ist ein führender Wissenschaftler auf dem Gebiete kohlenstoffreicher Materialien, wie Fullerene und acetylenische Netzwerke. Seine Arbeiten sind durch anspruchsvolle Synthese und physikalisch-organische Analyse geprägt und werden in zahlreichen internationalen Zusammenarbeiten durchgeführt.
