“The Leopoldina, which has over 1500 distinguished scientists as members, is an independent voice for German science. It regularly takes a position on political and societal issues and underscores the relevance of science and research to social concerns. In times when science must continually work to establish its credibility and scientific freedom is under attack in many countries, its voice is more indispensible than ever before.”
Prof. Dr. Matthias Kleiner
President of the Leibniz Association and member of the Leopoldina
Matthias Kleiner has been a member of the Leopoldina since 2006 and, as President of the Leibniz Association and as former President of the German Research Foundation, closely affiliated with the Academy. The Leibniz Association regularly works together with the Leopoldina on the organization of events or on publications within the framework of the Alliance of Science Organizations in Germany.
