In the run-up to the G7 Summit 2022, the national academies of the member states hand over science based recommendations

Date: Tuesday, 31 May 2022
Location: Museum for Communication, Leipziger Str. 16, 10117 Berlin

In January 2022, Germany took over the Presidency of the Group of Seven (G7) leading industrialized states. The annual meeting of heads of state and government will take place from 26 to 28 June 2022 at Schloss Elmau in the Bavarian Alps.

Under the leadership of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, the science academies of the G7 states, convening in the “Science7” (S7) format, will develop evidence-based statements related to topics on the summit agenda. Thematic priorities include the impact of climate change on polar regions and ocean, concrete measures for decarbonisation, the development of antiviral drugs for pandemic preparedness, and global health challenges posed by zoonoses and antimicrobial resistance.

At the S7 Dialogue Forum on 31 May 2022, the joint recommendations will be officially handed over to the German government by the presidents of the national academies of the G7 states and the conclusions will be discussed with national and international experts and the public at a science conference.
