More 'Parasite Infections in Global Health: Socioeconomics, Nutrition, Drug Resistance and Immunity'

Workshop

Date: Tuesday, 21 to Wednesday, 22 November 2023
Location: Freie Universität Berlin, Veterinarium Progressum, Oertzenweg 19b, 14163 Berlin

Aim of the meeting "Parasite Infections in Global Health: Socioeconomics, Nutrition, Drug Resistance and Immunity" is to focus on the highly prevalent infections with helminths and malaria in the global South. These chronic parasitic infections have a massive impact on the health, social and economic aspects of infected individuals and are important topics for policy advice.

The impact of these infections and solutions from different perspectives will be discussed through presentations of current research. As the two focal infections in humans occur where poverty prevails, the meeting will cover current immunological aspects and approaches against resistance development as well as social science and economic approaches, nutritional issues and the impact of co-infections on the individual.
