Andreas Bockisch is physicist and physician. App. 200 papers on nuclear physics were followed by more than 300 publications on nuclear medicine and related subjects. Thyreology and especially therapy of differentiated thyroid cancer and linked to that dosimetry in radionuclide therapy is followed by him continuously. The majority of his work in this field has been performed in the Clinic of Nuclear Medicine of the University Duisburg-Essen, which he is leading since 1996. In 2011 he succeeded acquiring one of the first PET/CT devices for the Essen Medical Faculty and his workgroup gained international recognition for the comprehensive optimization and evaluation of the clinical application of the at that time innovative method. In recognition for his merits, in 2011 the City of Remscheid awarded the Röntgen medal to him.
