Ellen Ivers-Tiffée worked as leader of a research group at Siemens AG, Corporate Research and Technology, Center of Applied Materials Research, from 1980 to 1996, where she was responsible for the development of passive components with novel functionality. In 1996, she became a full professor at the Universität Karlsruhe (TH) and has since been head of the Institute of Materials for Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Her research on functional ceramics for the energy sector and gas sensing applications focuses on the characterization of electrical and electrochemical reactions and transport processes, the development of nanoscaled functional layers and interfaces as well as the modeling and simulation of materials properties.
