Research

Karl Werdan is active in the fields of internal medicine, cardiology and medical intensive care medicine. Since 1995 he works at the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, first (from 1995 to 1999) as Chair of the the Department of Cardiological Intensive Care Medicine and since 1999 as Head of the Department of Medicine III (Cardiology, Angiology, Pulmonary Medicine, Medical Intensive Care Medicine). His scientific interests focus on the fields of cardiological emergency medicine and medical intensive care medicine (acute heart failure, cardiogenic shock, septic cardiomyopathy, autonomic dysfunction in multiorgan failure, sepsis treatment especially sepsis treatment with immunoglobulins).
