Research
His scientific interest has always been directed at immunology and cancer research. He is one of the pioneers in the investigation of programmed cell death, apoptosis. He contributed numerous groundbreaking discoveries to this field of research which have been published in more than 400 scientific papers and form the basis for investigations by many scientists all over the world. His main interest is sensitivity and resistance in apoptosis and the role of apoptosis in the immune system and in cancer.
