Susanne Albers made fundamental contributions to the field of efficient algorithms. She is internationally renowned for her work on online algorithms that receive relevant data as an input stream over time.
Despite the handicap of not knowing future input, algorithms can compute provably good solutions. Susanne Albers developed significant optimizations for a broad spectrum of basic problems in data structuring, processor scheduling as well as the resource management in computer systems and networks. Moreover, she proposed models and concepts that properly explain phenomena observed in practice. Her recent research also addresses algorithmic game theory and the design of energy-efficient algorithms.
