Research

Thomas Boehm has made many important contributions in the field of immunology. Since his appointment as director of the Max-Planck Institute of Immunobiology his main interest has been focused on questions concerning the evolution of adaptive immune systems and the genetic basis of thymus development. His present work is concentrated on investigating the development and function of genetic networks that are essential for avoiding autoimmune reactions during antigen recognition in invertebrates and vertebrates.
