SUMMARY:25 Years of Progress in Molecular Medicine: From Basic Research to
 Clinical Application
DESCRIPTION:Over the past 25 years, medicine has undergone an impressive de
velopment and the understanding of the pathogenesis of diseases at the mole
cular and cellular level has contributed significantly to the development o
f specific tools for the diagnosis, treatment or prevention of diseases.\n\
nHowever, in recent years it has also become clear that a direct translatio
n of current knowledge into new therapeutic options for the treatment of hu
man diseases is more complex than originally thought. One reason for this i
s that the principles of disease development and practically all pathomecha
nisms – with the exception of some rare monogenetic diseases – are the resu
lt of complex, often overlapping changes. In addition to genetic aberration
s and predispositions, epigenetics plays an important role in the developme
nt and progression of diseases as well as diverse environmental and nutriti
onal influences and complex interlocking pathomechanisms. Genetic and epige
netic changes influence the finely tuned intracellular and intercellular si
gnal transduction networks of cells, tissues and organs, which together con
stitute the communication system of the human organism. To highlight and dis
cuss these important developments, the CMMC Symposium on 25 Years of Progre
ss in Molecular Medicine: From Basic Research to Clinical Application offer
s a scientific program to inform about the progress in the different fields
of molecular medicine and to enable an exchange with internationally renow
ned experts. The symposium presents a scientific program with international
leading experts for the following sessions: 1) Stem Cell Biology and Regene
rative Medicine, 2) Molecular Oncology and Genomic Medicine, 3) Precision M
edicine in Cancer Treatment, 4) Infectious Diseases, 5) Neuroplasticity and
Neurodegeneration and 6) Metabolism and Aging. The CMMC symposium will be o
rganized as a hybrid meeting, where participants and speakers will either b
e present in person on site or, if personal participation is not possible,
will be interactively involved online by live streaming and an highly inter
active virtual meeting platform. The scientific program will be rounded off
by a digital interactive poster presentation. The symposium is co-sponsore
d by the Leopoldina.\n\nFurther Information and Registration\n\n The event
is aimed at a professional audience as well as interested persons and will
be held in English. There is no conference fee for attending the CMMC Sympo
sium. Registration is requested via the following link:\n\nRegistration\n\n
