 lness of informatics sometimes obscures its scientific depth, beauty, and f
 ascination.\n\nThe speaker will talk about his fascination for informatics.
  He will do so under the headings: (1) Early Fascination, (2) Computation a
 nd Laws of Computation, (3) A Mathematician in the Morning, an Engineer in 
 the Afternoon, (4) Connections to Other Fields, and (5) Future.\n\nInformat
 ics was introduced in Germany as a field of study in 1968. The speaker star
 ted university studies (Mathematics and Physics) in 1968, and a friend conv
 inced him to also attend the course “Einführung in die Informatik (Introduc
