DESCRIPTION:Autonomy is a multifaceted concept that plays a crucial role in
  various fields of research, including social, biological, health and life 
 sciences, technology, artificial intelligence, philosophy and physics. Conc
 epts of autonomy have implications for individual behaviour, technology, ec
 onomic markets, social structures and public policy design. This complex in
 teraction between autonomy and societal constraints is the theme of this ye
 ar's Leopoldina Annual Meeting.\n\nBy integrating perspectives from the Aca
 demy's various disciplines, the aim is to promote a comprehensive understan
 ding of autonomy and its implications.\n\nProf. Dr Alexandra Freund, Prof. 
 Dr Bernhard Hommel and Wilhelm Hofmann from the Psychology and Cognitive Sc
 iences Section have taken on the scientific coordination of the 2026 Annual
  Assembly.
