SUMMARY:Chasing the Chameleon: Advances in the Diagnosis and Treatment of E
 ndometriosis
DESCRIPTION:Endometriosis is a chronic condition that affects an estimated
10% of women of reproductive age. It is characterized by the growth of endo
metrial tissue outside of the uterus, leading to symptoms such as severe pa
in, especially during menstrual periods, or infertility. Despite its preval
ence, endometriosis is often misdiagnosed and the cause of the disease is s
till largely unknown, resulting in inadequate treatment and significant per
sonal and societal burdens.\n\nThe Leopoldina International Virtual Panel D
iscussion will bring together leading experts to explain the characteristic
s of endometriosis and discuss the latest findings and advances in the diag
nosis and treatment of endometriosis. The panel will provide a platform to
exchange knowledge, ideas and perspectives on ongoing research efforts and
raise scientific and public awareness of this complex condition.\n\nThe Leo
poldina will welcome the following experts to the podium:\n\n Professor St
acey Missmer, ScD, Professor of Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Reproductive B
