SUMMARY:European Academies‘ Conference "Demographic Change in Europe – the 
 Scientific Basis of Sustainable Policymaking"
DESCRIPTION:The topic "Demographic Change" is high on the European Agenda. 
 The European Commission had campaigned for "active ageing" in 2012, during 
 the "European Year". Research funding, regional development, employment and
  health are areas for which demography is of primary concern. The European 
 academies have accumulated expertise in these areas during the past years, 
 however, no European attempt has been made to bring these perspectives toge
 ther for the benefit of Europeans.Based on the previous demographic reports
  and analyses of the academies, a joint statement will be elaborated and di
 scussed during a two-day conference, hosted by the Leopoldina. \n\nContact\
