SUMMARY:Founding Conference of the Leopoldina-KAST Conference Series
DESCRIPTION:In May 2012, the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina
  and the Korean Academy of Science and Technology (KAST) signed a Memorandu
 m of Understanding, thus highlighting their strategic partnership. Under th
 e framework of this cooperation agreement, joint symposia of high-impact co
 ncerning globally relevant topics and problems will be organized in the fut
 ure on a regular basis.The Founding Conference of the Leopoldina-KAST Sympo
 sium series will be dedicated to the discussion of key issues in regenerati
 ve medicine with a special focus on stem cells and regenerative therapies. 
 Leading scientists from Germany and South Korea will address currently prev
 ailing research tendencies as well as already discernible research gaps in 
 the field of stem cell research in order to identify a common agenda for fu
 ture science cooperation. Under the leadership of Professor Henning BEIER M
 L from the University of Aachen and Professor Il-Hoan OH from the Medical S
 chool of the Catholic University of Korea, the conference aims at preparing
  for a major German-Korean symposium next year.The Founding Conference is o
