DESCRIPTION:Microbiology is one of the fastest moving disciplines in life s
 ciences and its landscape has changed tremendously during the last decades.
  Some sub-disciplines of microbiology are evolving at an impressively incre
 asing speed and spectacular advances are driven by developments in genomics
 , proteomics, imaging techniques and bioinformatics. Combination of these a
 dvances allow for single cell analysis, rapid and relatively inexpensive me
 tagenomic and transcriptomic data analyses, large-scale studies or visualiz
 ation of previously unsuspected mechanisms. This enables studies that addre
 ss critical roles of microbes both in health and disease and in humans, ani
 mals and the environment.\n\nThe German National Academy of Sciences Leopol
 dina, the Académie des sciences, the Royal Society, and the Royal Swedish A
 cademy are holding a scientific conference on these new developments in mic
 robiology. The conference will cover a broad range of topics in microbiolog
 y, featuring research on infection biology, microbiome, phage biology, bact
 erial cell biology and molecular infection biology. The meeting will be an 
 appropriate and timely occasion to offer an outstanding discussion forum fo
 r the best international researchers in these fields of microbiology resear
