SUMMARY:Modifying Cardiovascular Ageing: from old cells to elderly patients
DESCRIPTION:Cardiovascular diseases are the most common cause of death in i
 ndustrialised countries, especially among older people. Understanding the c
 ellular mechanisms of ageing is therefore of particular scientific interest
 . With this knowledge, interventions can be developed to modify the ageing 
 process and thus delay the onset of diseases. The goal: to increase the num
 ber of healthy years of life – the healthy lifespan – and not just the life
 span. At the conference, ageing as an influenceable risk factor for cardiov
 ascular diseases will be discussed in order to promote communication betwee
 n the worldwide community of researchers on ageing and to attract young stu
 dents to this field of research. The congress is the 11th international mee
 ting on ageing in Halle (Saale) and accompanies the development of a focus 
 on ageing research in Central Germany.\n\nFuther information\n\nThe event i
