SUMMARY:Realising the Promises of Artificial Intelligence
DESCRIPTION:Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a truly transformative technolo
gy. Advances in machine and deep learning unlock unprecedented opportunitie
s to build better tools and solutions in a broad range of areas – from comm
erce, finance and agriculture to self-driving cars, personalised healthcare
and social media. Speech recognition offers better communication services
and, when combined with machine translation, the prospect of real-time cros
s-language conversations. The advent of these technologies promises to impr
ove the quality of people’s lives throughout the world, while at the same t
ime its significant impact on societies requires discussion and engagement.
\n\nTo advance public understanding and awareness of AI, KAST and Leopoldin
a have invited two leading experts to share their insights on the developme
nt and application of AI technologies as well as potential benefits and cha
llenges for society. The webinar is the virtual kick-off for a KAST-Leopold
ina symposium to be held in Seoul in 2022. The conference will bring togeth
er renowned scientists from Korea and Germany to explore current trends in
core areas of AI research as well as discuss technological progress and its
societal and scientific impact.\n\nAgenda\n\n Opening Remarks – Professor
