SUMMARY:SILBERSALZ Festival 2019
DESCRIPTION:SILBERSALZ is the first international science film festival of 
 its kind, taking place from 20 until 23 June 2019 for the second time in Ha
 lle. As a combination of festival and conference, SILBERSALZ makes science 
 accessible in a clear and vivid fashion while simultaneously serving as a p
 latform for the exchange of ideas and mutual inspiration.\n\nThe two-day SI
 LBERSALZ Conference, taking place from 22 until 23 June, is a closed format
  consisting of lectures, panel discussions, a science and media pitch as we
 ll as keynotes given by experts at the German National Academy of Sciences,
  the Leopoldina. Here, scientists and media professionals have the opportun
 ity to discuss the latest developments in science and media communication, 
 share their insights and make new connections.\n\nThis year, a hand-picked 
 line-up of scientific minds, researchers and thinkers will guide an interdi
 sciplinary audience through the surprises and controversies behind the them
 e “The Science of Love”. Bringing together new approaches across neuroscien
 ce, philosophy, evolutionary biology, sociology, history, psychology as wel
 l as narrative media and technology to unlock the secrets of love, the conf
 erence explores how scientists and storytellers can collaborate to create s
 cience programming that fascinates global audiences.\n\nBy embedding debate
 s and case studies within larger discussions of bioethics, epistemological 
 limits, sexism and anthropocentrism in science, dividing lines between the 
 sciences and the humanities, as well as the market forces shaping knowledge
  production, the SILBERSALZ Conference sheds light on underlying challenges
  that scientists and science communicators must tackle together.\n\nSILBERS
