DESCRIPTION:The Communication of the brain with the environment is based on
  an optimal interconnection of its circuities within and among them. This i
 s based on a myelin-associated macro-connectivity as well as on a synaptic 
 based micro-connectivity. By focussing on synaptic connectivity this sympos
 ium bridges genetic principles, the outline of synaptic processes by imagin
 g techniques and neuroanatomic correlates. To experimentally modulate synap
