SUMMARY:Workshop „Stress and Ageing: from Molecular Biology to Clinical Per
 spectives”
DESCRIPTION:Average life expectancy has grown dramatically in the last cent
ury leading to an increase in age-related degenerative diseases. While the
accumulation of molecular damage is thought to be the cause of biological a
ging, the capacity of repair and regeneration seems to be the basis of long
evity. Stress is known to influence both. It is still unclear if stress per
se or what kind of stress is harmful or beneficial. Gerontologists from al
l fields should work together to understand the importance of stress in bio
logical ageing and age-related diseases. Translational research will be of
major interest in the future. The purpose of this meeting is \n\nto make t
he general public more aware of the problems of stress as a modifier of the
ageing processto promote greater communication among the worldwide communi
ty of individuals engaged in ageing researchto invite young students to joi
n this field of research\n\n The congress will be the 6th international me
eting on ageing in Halle (Saale) and thereby hopefully develop to a focus o
n ageing research in Germany. It will comprise invited talks and poster ses
sions (participants). There will be no concurrent sessions.\n\nConference f
ees, registration and further information\n\n Conference fees are 120 € and
60 € for students.Registration is required. For registration and further i
