DESCRIPTION:In May 2012, the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina
  and the Korean Academy of Science and Technology (KAST) signed a Memorandu
 m of Understanding, thus highlighting their strategic partnership. Within t
 he framework of this cooperation agreement, high-profile joint symposia on 
 topics of global relevance are organized on a regular basis.  This year, th
 e Leopoldina-KAST Joint Conference will be held in Seoul and will be dedica
 ted to Modern Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence:  Modern Machine
  Learning and Artificial Intelligence have become an indispensible enabling
  technology for the sciences and industry. The joint symposium between KAST
  and Leopoldina aims to engage in a discourse on novel scientific developme
 nts and limits of this exciting interdisciplinary field at the intersection
  of mathematics, technology and cognition. Focus will be given to discuss M
 odern Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence technology itself and it
 s application in the sciences such as the Neurosciences, Physics, Biology a
 nd Medicine. Focus Areas of the conference will be the frontiers of Machine
  Learning and Artificial Intelligence, including Deep Learning for Percepti
 on, Cognition and Modelling, Prospective of Hybrid Intelligence, as well as
  Applications to Science, Service and Industry.  Renowned scientists from G
 ermany and South Korea will address current trends in these fields of resea
 rch and discuss possible options for future scientific cooperation.\n\nWeit
