 sbesondere die Artenvielfalt der Mikroorganismen bildet die Grundlage für b
 ioaktive Wirkstoffe, von denen viele als Antibiotika und Antitumormedikamen
 te eingesetzt werden. Neuartige Techniken wie das „Genome Mining“ ermöglich
 en die Vorhersage von Biosynthesegenen sowie die Isolierung von möglicherwe
 ise neuen bioaktiven Naturstoffen. Der Einfluss von Klimawandel auf die Ent
 wicklung von Krankheitserregern und die daraus für den Menschen folgende In
 fektionskrankheiten sind ein weiterer Schwerpunkt des Leopoldina-Partnersym

 volution of pathogens and thus affects multiple infectious diseases of huma
