SUMMARY:Computational Archaeology
DESCRIPTION:In November 2019, the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities
  and the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina will hold a worksho
 p on “Computational Archaeology” in Jerusalem. Over the last generation, ar
 chaeology has increasingly turned to the exact sciences and the natural sci
 ences, including the use of methods from mathematics and computer science. 
 The conference will reflect the achievements of research in this field in I
 srael and Germany. It will present research in areas such as art typologies
 , text analysis, documentation of findings, computational approaches to pro
 blems in chronology and artificial intelligence approaches in archaeology.\
 n\nThe scientific coordinator on the side of the Leopoldina is Professor Re
 inhard Förtsch, German Archaeological Institute (Deutsches Archäologisches 
 Institut – DAI) in Berlin. Scientific coordinator on the Israeli side is Pr
