DESCRIPTION:The ProkaGENOMICS conference series has been launched already i
 n 2003 when the genomics revolution was still in its infancy. At present, t
 he increasing power of high-throughput technologies drives research in micr
 obiology. The OMICS-technologies have become the new mantra in functional m
 icrobial genomics, allowing the simultaneous examination of thousands of ge
 nes, transcripts, proteins, or metabolites. These powerful tools yielded co
 mpletely new scientific objectives, e.g. monitoring microbial community dyn
 amics as well as comprehensive cellular processes under a wide range of dif
