SUMMARY:Science for Future: All Starts with Basic Research
DESCRIPTION: The German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, the oldest
 , continuously existing science academy in the world, and the Chinese Acade
 my of Sciences (CAS), the biggest and financially strongest academy in Asia
 , have joined forces to stage the conference series “Science for Future”. U
 nder this title, both academies will regularly conduct high-level conferenc
 es in China and Germany. The series aims at highlighting the value of curio
 sity-driven science that explores the edges of knowledge and thus is the tr
 ue driver of innovation. The Science for Future-Conferences will also be a 
 meeting and presentation place for excellent junior scientists from both co
 untries in order to further scientific cooperation between China and German
 y. \n\nThe inaugural conference “Science for Future: All Starts with Basic 
 Research” will take place on 8-10 Sept 2019 at the Yanqihu-Campus of the Un
 iversity of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) close to Beijing. The co
 nference takes a broad thematic approach to showcase excellence in various 
 fields of science, bringing together internationally renowned scientists wi
 th young researchers from China and Germany. To underline the importance of
  cutting-edge, curiosity-driven research for the advancement of science and
  society, the two academies will sign The Beijing Declaration on Basic Scie
 nce.\n\nThe conference outline will be as follows: \n\nScience for Future-Y
