SUMMARY:Science for Future: All Starts with Basic Research
DESCRIPTION:The German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, the oldest,
  continuously existing science academy in the world, and the Chinese Academ
 y of Sciences (CAS), the biggest and financially strongest academy in Asia,
  have joined forces to stage the conference series “Science for Future”. Un
 der this title, both academies will regularly conduct high-level conference
 s in China and Germany. The series aims at highlighting the value of curios
 ity-driven science that explores the edges of knowledge and thus is the tru
 e driver of innovation. The Science for Future-Conferences will also be a m
 eeting and presentation place for excellent junior scientists from both cou
 ntries in order to further scientific cooperation between China and Germany
 .\n\nThe inaugural conference “Science for Future: All Starts with Basic Re
 search” will take place on 8-10 Sept 2019 at the Yanqihu-Campus of the Univ
 ersity of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) close to Beijing. The conf
 erence takes a broad thematic approach to showcase excellence in various fi
 elds of science, bringing together internationally renowned scientists with
  young researchers from China and Germany. To underline the importance of c
 utting-edge, curiosity-driven research for the advancement of science and s
 ociety, the two academies will sign The Beijing Declaration on Basic Scienc
 e.\n\nThe conference outline will be as follows:\n\nScience for Future-Youn
