SUMMARY:Symposium on Nanoscience
DESCRIPTION:In 2007, the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and
the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) signed a Memorandum of Understa
nding (renewed in 2012), thus highlighting their strategic partnership. Th
e Leopoldina-INSA Symposium will focus on the topic of nanoscience in Germa
ny and India. Renowned scientists from Germany and India will address curre
nt and future trends in nanoscience in order to identify a common agenda fo
r future German-Indian science cooperation. The Conference is organized un
der the joint leadership of Professor Harald Fuchs ML from the University o
f Muenster and Professor Indranil Manna from the Indian Institute of Techno
logy Kanpur. The Leopoldina Presidium will be represented by Gunnar Berg ML
, Vice President of the Leopoldina and Professor of Experimental Physics at
the Martin Luther University, Halle-Wittenberg. Each conference day will
be begin with a key note speech by an internationally renowned expert in th
e field of nanoscience: On day one, Herbert Gleiter, member of the Leopoldi
na, will speak on the topic of “Nanostructured Amorphous Solids (Nanoglasse
 s) – The Door to a New Generation of Technologies?”. The second day will be
opened by Arup K. Raychaudhuri with a speech on “Electronic and Opto-elect
ronic Measurements on Single Nanowire Devices”. List of Indian and German
