In 2012, the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) renewed a Memorandum of Understanding that was first signed in 2007 and highlights their strategic partnership.

The Leopoldina-INSA Symposium will focus on the topic of “Human Evolution towards Language” in Germany and India. Renowned scientists from Germany and India will address current and future trends in in this field.

The Leopoldina-INSA conference is organised under the joint leadership of Leopoldina member Professor Dr. Angela D. Friederici (Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences, Leipzig) and Professor Dr. L.S. Shashidhara (Indian Institute of Science, Education and Research (IISER), Pune).
