Treatment of Elderly Patients: The Challenge of the Future

More 'Treatment of Elderly Patients: The Challenge of the Future'

Joint symposium by the German Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics, the German Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, the European Section of the International Academy, the Interdisciplinary Centre on Ageing Halle (IZAH) and the Leopoldina

Date: Friday, 25 to Sunday, 27 September 2015
Location: Löwengebäude, Universitätsplatz 11, 06099 Halle (Saale)

A great number of elderly patients will reach the hospitals in the future when the baby boomer generation will get old. Nobody is really prepared for this tsunami like increase of multi-morbid patients. Gerontologists and Geriatrics from all fields should work together to understand the challenges of the treatment of such elderly patients. Translational research will therefore be of major interest in the future. The purpose of this meeting is

  • to make the general public more aware of the problems of elderly patients
  • to promote greater communication among the worldwide community of individuals engaged in ageing research
  • to invite young students to join this field of research.

The congress will be the 7th international meeting on ageing in Halle (Saale) and hopefully develop to a focus on ageing research in Germany. It will comprise invited talks and poster sessions. There will be no concurrent sessions.
