This time in the Newsletter: In an interview, Leopoldina members Andreas Kablitz, Konrad Samwer and Andreas Voßkuhle talk about “Law(s): Rules of Reality – Rules for Reality” on the occasion of the Annual Assembly. In addition, with a contribution on the promotion of young scientists from Ukraine and an preview of the traditional Christmas Lecture by Leopoldina member and computer scientist Bernhard Schölkopf, who will talk about "the cybernetic revolution" on Thursday, 7 December.

The academic organisation of the Annual Assembly on 28 and 29 September was in the hands of three Leopoldina Members: the Romanist Andreas Kablitz, Director of the Petrarca Institute at the University of Cologne/Germany, the lawyer Andreas Voßkuhle, Director of the Institute of Political Science and the Philosophy of Law at the University of Freiburg/Germany, and the physicist Konrad Samwer from the University of Göttingen/Germany. They discuss the topic “Law(s): Rules of Reality – Rules for Reality”. More on Pages 6 and 7

The Leopoldina is supporting ten Ukrainian postdocs with the Ukraine Distinguished Fellowship. The funding will support outstanding postdoctoral researchers from Ukraine, whose careers have been endangered or interrupted by the war, for one year. More on Page 11

In the run-up to the traditional Christmas Lecture, he will give this year on the development and success of machine learning methods, he talks about neural networks and AI superpowers in an interview.
