Research
Hans-Jochen Heinze has distinguished himself by numerous important contributions to our understanding of the cognitive control of human behavior, viewed from the perspective of behavioral neuroscience. The majority of these contributions were made during his twenty year tenure in Magdeburg, where he has headed the Department of Neurology. In addition, he has made significant scientific contributions to the functional magnetic resonance imaging of cognitive functions such as visual attention, reward processing, and memory and consciousness. This work has been accomplished through collaborations between the Department of Neurology and partners such as the Leibniz Institute of Neurobiology (LIN) and the Center for Behavioral Brain Sciences (CBBS). He is currently at work on the integration of newly developed imaging techniques into Clinical Neurology.
