It is convinced that science provides important impetus for the well-being of all, for a democratic society, and for an environment worth living in. The Leopoldina brings this knowledge together and presents it in a way that is understandable and tailored to its audience. Policy Advice in Germany ▸
Politics and society are constantly faced with the task of finding solutions to the challenges of our time. At the same time, science is delivering new insights at an unprecedented pace, enabling innovation and providing new impetus. This knowledge is almost impossible for laypeople or decision-makers to comprehend and is therefore often not directly usable. The Leopoldina's task is to bring together knowledge, evaluate it, and make it usable—through policy briefs, discussion papers, statements, events, and digital dossiers.

As Germany’s National Academy of Sciences, the Leopoldina brings together the latest scientific findings, evaluates and integrates them into recommendations and options for action in international political decision-making processes. Science Diplomacy ▸
Science diplomacy connects science with foreign policy. It opens up spaces for dialogue where political channels are blocked, builds bridges between societies, and strengthens international partnerships where traditional diplomacy reaches its limits. As Germany’s National Academy of Sciences, the Leopoldina draws on its reputation, networks and expertise to support foreign policy processes and stands by its partners even in times of crisis.

Academic Freedom and Human Rights ▸
When science comes under pressure, individual researchers are often among those most directly affected. The Leopoldina’s Human Rights Committee (HRC) supports researchers at risk and raises awareness of the need to protect their human rights, so that they can work freely, safely, and without political pressure, censorship or fear.
