International Networks
As Germany's National Academy of Sciences, the Leopoldina represents German science in international networks. It is committed to promoting exchange between disciplines and countries and to strengthening science-based policy and social counselling.

Members of the Leopoldina actively contribute their scientific expertise to the work of international networks. They are represented on committees and are involved in working groups that develop solutions for global challenges or socially relevant issues. The Leopoldina also helps to shape the strategic direction of these networks.
InterAcademy Partnership (IAP)
More about the IAP
IAP is the global network of academies with over 150 member organisations. It promotes international discourse in science and the development of expertise in science-based counselling. The Leopoldina has been a founding member since 2016 and the secretariat is based in Trieste.
All European Academies (ALLEA)
More about ALLEA
Founded in 1994, ALLEA brings together 60 European academies. It promotes exchange between members, provides information on developments in Brussels and Strasbourg, and produces evidence-based and research policy statements focussing on the European Union. The secretariat is located in Berlin.
European Academies Science Advisory Council (EASAC)

EASAC consists of the National Academies of the EU Member States plus the UK, Norway and Switzerland, and is part of the SAPEA consortium supporting the Scientific Advice Mechanism and the EU Commission's Group of Chief Scientific Advisors. The secretariat is located in Vienna.
Federation of European Academies of Medicine (FEAM)

Since 1993, FEAM has been promoting cooperation between European medical academies and contributing scientific expertise to the dialogue on health issues with various stakeholders. The secretariat is located in Brussels.
International Human Rights Network (IHRN)

The IHRN is committed to the freedom of science and against hostility towards science worldwide. It stands up for the protection of the human rights of persecuted scientists. The secretariat is located in Washington, D.C.

International Science Council (ISC)
ISC is the global umbrella organisation of over 200 science organisations that promotes interdisciplinary exchange and works to strengthen consultation, including at the United Nations; Leopoldina works closely with the German representative in the ISC, the German Research Foundation (DFG).Science and Technology in Society Forum (STS Forum)
STS Forum in Kyoto is the annual gathering of leading players from the global science sector to discuss the societal impact of science and technology; the President of Leopoldina is a member of the STS Forum Council.
