Die Junge Akademie
The Young Academy was founded in 2000 on the initiative of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW). It was based on the conviction that young scientists need more opportunities to develop freely and help shape the scientific system.

Further Information
The Young Academy has two primary tasks: to foster scientific discourse, particularly interdisciplinary discourse, among outstanding young scientists and artists, and to promote initiatives at the interfaces between science, art, science management, science policy and society. The members of the Young Academy come from all scientific disciplines and the arts. Since its foundation, the Young Academy has developed into a model and example for similar initiatives in numerous countries.
