Research
Herman-Josef Wagner was working within the field of energy analysis. His contributions to the sustainable valuation and conception as well as eco-balances from existing and future energy systems are pioneering. He concentrated his work on life cycle analysis, especially for renewable energies, on energy scenarios regarding the future path of energy systems and on rational energy use. The focus of his work was directed towards the methodology and account of the cumulated energy and the cumulated emissions of air pollutant and greenhouse gases. The research takes place in the interdisciplinary area of energy technology, economy and ecology. Beside his scientific works, he published some books about energy technologies and energy problems. He was engaged as chairman of Energy Environment in the German Association of Engineers. The German Federal President decorated him with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
