Research
Jörg P. Kotthaus has made many important contributions to the physics of artificial nanoscale systems. During the last 20 years he has essentially contributed to establishing Nanoscience as an important interdisciplinary research area at LMU München. There he initiated in 1998 the now internationally known „Center for NanoScience“ (CeNS), which he directed until 2006 and coordinated several research clusters, including the Cluster of Excellence „Nanosystems Initiative Munich (NIM). His research is concentrated on the realization of chip-based nanosystems and the investigations of their new physical properties. This basic research also generated four successful spin-off companies of his collaborators.
