Professor Dr Jost B. Jonas

The scientific studies of Jost Jonas are focused on the clinical aspects of the intraocular ophthalmology, such as the quantification of the structures of the optic nerve for the diagnosis of the glaucomas; the intraocular application of crystalline cortisone and anti-angiogenic substances for the therapy of the diabetic retinopathy, the age-related macular degeneration, and other disorders of the macula; the assessment of the intraocular blood pressure (ophthalmodynamometry); protection and regeneration of the retina; aspects of the surgery of the cornea, cataract, glaucoma, and retina, and the femtosecond laser assisted transplantation of the cornea. Additional scientific foci are cell biologic examinations including aspect of stem cell research and population-based studies in China and India addressing ophthalmologic, medical and socioeconomic questions.
