Research
Karl Heinz Büchel was a German chemist. Focus of research in his work were metabolic intermediates and chemical engineering, especially the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds. He developed among others the acyl-lactone rearrangement which was named after him and his colleague. His work in the Bayer AG on plant protection and pharmaceutical agents contributed to 16 commercial products.
