Research
Karl Sigmund has worked in ergodic theory and dynamical systems, and then turned to biomathematics. In the last decades, he mostly worked in evolutionary game theory, and in particular on replicator dynamics. He has intensively studied questions related with the emergence of cooperation, indirect reciprocity, reputation effects and the role of incentives. Sigmund is also interested in the history of mathematics and has published on Kurt Gödel and the Vienna Circle.
