Professor Dr Michael Veith
- Section Chemistry
- Location Saarbrücken, Germany
- Election year 2004
Research
Prof. Veith is engaged in the transfer of molecular chemistry into materials science, whereat the synthesis of the solid material is predetermined by a customized synthesis in the molecular precursor. With this method, metallic oxides, metal-/metal oxide-composites in definite molar ratio and meta-stable phases can be prepared in very pure conditions. Their primary and secondary structures can be adjusted in nano- and micrometer scale. The developed principles can be utilized for the preparation of thin films with unique topology by CVD (Chemical Vapour Deposition) or sol-gel processing. These films can be applied in physics, cytology or medical science.
