Research
Mausfeld’s work focuses on the abstract principles underlying perception and on the functional architecture and internal semantics of the perceptual system. He theoretically and experimentally investigates, primarily in the domain of colour and material qualities, the structure of the conceptual forms with which the human perceptual system is biologically endowed. Furthermore, he deals with the human capability to simultaneously employ, with respect to the same perceptual input situation, conflicting mental perspectives, and attempts to identify the relevant computational principles that underlie corresponding achievements.
