Professor Dr Wilfried Endlicher

Wilfried Endlicher made important contributions to the topoclimatology of wine growing areas, to urban climatology, and air quality. He promoted the focal point of the Dept. of Geography at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, the research on big cities and metropolitan areas, and developed the research field of urban ecology. For that purpose, he carried out larger projects in Argentina, Chile, and Bangladesh. He is especially interested in the problems of urban heat stress and air pollution by particulate matter and its consequences for human health under the conditions of local urban climate and global climate change.
