In the new "Eine Stunde Spitzenforschung" lecture series organised by the University of Freiburg – Medical Center, Leopoldina members from Freiburg report on their scientific discoveries, their importance for medicine and beyond. The topics range from anxiety disorders to developments in forensic medicine and new therapeutic approaches in cancer.
Prof. Dr. Anca-L. Grosu, Medical Director of the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Freiburg – Medical Center and Deputy Senator of the Radiology Section of the Leopoldina will be the first to speak. Radiation therapists use imaging techniques to look inside people in order to perform cancer treatment with surgical precision. In her lecture, Grosu will report on the rapid developments in imaging in radiology and nuclear medicine. "Methods of artificial intelligence will provide additional data and thus prepare the basis for a highly personalized radiotherapy. We are working hard on this," says Grosu.
