Global Health – From Health Services to Climate Change and to Social Justice
Published by Susanne Hartmann, Thomas C. Mettenleiter and Lothar H. Wieler
Lectures held at the Annual Assembly 23rd to 24th September 2022 in Halle (Saale)
Global health is a field of education, research, and practice that prioritizes the improvement of health with equal access for all people worldwide. It is remarkable that human health is often viewed solely as a domain of medicine, even though the mental and physical well-being of our fellow human beings primarily depends on factors such as education, lifestyle, opportunities for personal development, and the environment. The Leopoldina took the occasion of its annual meeting to scientifically exemplify and discuss the broad range of topics encompassed by global health.
