Research
Armin Kurtz is distinguished for many important contributions to the field of the renin-angiotensin-system, to kidney function and to the control of blood pressure. The majority of these were made from the Institute of Physiology at Regensburg University which he leads since 1991. He made major contributions to research into the mechanisms of regulation of the renin gene, renin synthesis or renin cell development. He developed in his field of research new important and sophisticated techniques such as the isolation of renin producing cells, isolated perfused mouse kidney or three dimensional reconstruction of renal blood vessels.
