Research

Jean-Pierre Timmermans was appointed as full professor and became head of the Laboratory of Cell Biology & Histology of the University of Antwerp (UA) in 2001. He has since built up an internationally renowned research group, which currently comprises 25 collaborators. His research interests mainly focus on the role of the autonomic nervous system within the respiratory and gastrointestinal tract under normal and pathological conditions.
