More information
Cardiovascular diseases are the most common cause of death in industrialised countries, especially among older people. Understanding the cellular mechanisms of ageing is therefore of particular scientific interest. With this knowledge, interventions can be developed to modify the ageing process and thus delay the onset of diseases. The goal: to increase the number of healthy years of life – the healthy lifespan – and not just the lifespan.
At the conference, ageing as an influenceable risk factor for cardiovascular diseases will be discussed in order to promote communication between the worldwide community of researchers on ageing and to attract young students to this field of research.
The congress is the 11th international meeting on ageing in Halle (Saale) and accompanies the development of a focus on ageing research in Central Germany.
